Welcome to this module on the steps you need to take before you provide first aid.

Providing First Aid

When you encounter a person who is wounded or unresponsive, there are a few steps you need to take before you provide first aid.

You take these steps to keep the person’s chance of survival as high as possible.

The First Aid Checklist

The steps you’ll learn in this module will help you confirm if the scene is safe to enter, if the person is responsive, and if the person is breathing.

They’ll also help you alert medical professionals.

The full list of steps will be referred to as the First Aid Checklist.

At the end of this module, you will know how to perform these steps yourself.

What you will do in this module

You will be guided through the first aid checklist in chronological order.

Each step will be explained in a series of videos.  In the practice section, you will review key information which prepares you for the assessment.

Certification

If you score at least 80% on each assessment, you will receive the certificate for this module.
